About the Consultant and/or Company

We program in the most important computer language of them all - English. We do it all within the guidelines with no sneaky tricks or bad practices. The Targetem team has been building and operating ecommerce websites since 1995.

Since then, the size of the standard Targetem SEO engagement has steadily grown, and accomplishments include the successful optimization of some complex and home grown custom shopping cart systems in addition to optimization of various commercial carts. Certified for Yahoo (Ambassador), Google PPC management (Google Qualified Company), but focuses on optimizing for organic results.

Training and/or Education

Targetem President John Williams has been operating Internet based marketing businesses since 1994, helping businesses sell their products and services online.

Mr. Williams is a frequent guest instructor in the post graduate marketing department at Old Dominion University, and is a senior moderator at SearchEngineWatch.com. He is a member of the the Gersen Lehrman Technology, Media & Telecom Council where he advises Wall Street and other executives on Internet marketing related issues, and is both a Certified Yahoo Ambassador and a Google Qualified Individual. Mr. Williams is also a member of the ECPI Advisory Board (ecpi.edu).

Targetem is one of a limited number of U.S. based companies to achieve the status of Google Qualified Company, the highest level of certification offered by Google.

Targetem is an official corporate sponsor of the osCommerce open source shopping cart project.

Website and/or Graphic Design Experience

One of the few SEO outfits who see the changes needed for search engine recognition as an opportunity to fix usability and information architecture deficiencies at the same time.

Targetem's work has been a mix of rehabilitating existing sites while working within the existing look and feel; also designing, developing and deploying new sites from scratch, and consulting and training.

Technical Experience

The Targetem offices feature both Mac and a Linux platforms to go along with the PCs, and a development server arsenal covering all major OS and hardware platforms. Work has included heavy .asp and .php based sites. Most of the server work has been on Apache or IIS. Photoshop and Dreamweaver are the most common tools.
