About SEOAly

SEOAly began as a not-for-profit blog dedicated to providing small business owners with useful and accurate information about search marketing. When I began blogging I was still employed by a large company that offered small business website design and promotion services. That position gave me the opportunity to provide thousands of hours of SEO consultation to small business owners throughout the United States and Canada.

I've since shed my corporate shackles and ventured out on my own by offering small business SEO services and WordPress website/blog design services. What began as a not-for-profit blog has blossomed into a small business itself. My specialty is on-site SEO so, on-site problem resolution, SEO audits, keyword research and WordPress site/blog development are among my most popular services.

Training and/or Education

My SEO training began several years ago when I accepted a position with a large website design and promotion company as a Customer Retention Agent. Providing basic search engine optimization consulting was 80% of the job. The initial training came from the company. Additional training above and beyond the basics was encouraged, but not provided by the company.

I was very motivated to learn the ins and outs of SEO. My sister and I had recently launched a website for our local pet sitting service, so learning as much as possible as quickly as possible became my focus for more than one reason. I began to read articles from respected industry veterans and interact with them on Twitter. I simultaneously launched a number of websites to put to test the theories and accepted best practices. As the say, the rest is history...

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Web Design and Interactive Media from the Art Institute of Jacksonville.

Website and/or Graphic Design Experience

My mom was a graphic designer and I spent many an evening hanging out at her office. I spent my share of time hacking up wax-backed images and text on a light board with an X-Acto knife. That interest evolved to a penchant for web design. I designed my first websites in the early and middle 1990s using antiquated tools like Claris Home Page and Adobe PageMill. Remember those? Anybody?

I offer small business website design services through SEOAly. I develop sites exclusively using WordPress and provide affordable web site design that is both search engine and user friendly.

Technical Experience

I have no formal education in Computer Science or Internet Technology. However, from manually configuring 14.4k modems in the mid-90s to modifying PHP or CSS today, experience is the greatest teacher. Thanks to the Internet, there is virtually nothing one could need to know that isn't published somewhere. The real test of intelligence isn't knowing everything, it's knowing where to go to get the right information and knowing what to do once you find it.
