The Tale of a Sphinn AvatarIn just under three (03) weeks, I've managed to view a very large percentage of the Sphinn Profile database through public access. I lost count on just how many profiles I've read. I did learn quite a bit about each and every one of you that I viewed based on your activity within the Sphinn Community.
I've been in Advertising and Marketing since 1990 from the commercial printing and ad specialties side of things. I've been involved with over a thousand design projects ranging from business cards to fleet graphics. I'd like to think that I've developed an "eye" for certain types of things, particularly graphics and their initial impressions. In this case, Profile Avatars.
I've randomly chosen Sphinner Avatars based on "first impressions". I'm going to show their Avatar and then opine to the right. This is strictly a "feel good" exercise and also a great way to focus on branding via your Profile Avatar which I feel some have overlooked. So, on to the good stuff...
My one line perception reviews of the Profile Avatars that caught my attention during Sphinn Boot Camp.
You have 50 pixels square to work with. This is forced. That means if you do not start with a perfect 50x50 square, you are going to see a bit of distortion in your Avatar. Again, this is by default because of the forced 50x50 dimensions. Make sure your Avatars are perfectly square at 50x50. Think of them as a favicon. In fact, many of you could just size your Avatars down and use them as your favicon!
