0-22 SphinnsAuto Voting at Sphinn

During my first day at Sphinn, that What's New list was of great interest for me. I like that real time environment along with being able to see what the latest happenings are around the industry. I did notice a few anomalies taking place at specific times of the day with that What's New list. In fact, my activity during those times tripped up the auto voting process for this particular username. How did I do that? I'll explain that in another topic discussing what I feel caused the SphinnBot to Snnitch on its owner(s).

Community Disrespect

Some of you reading this are thinking, dude, that's not right, this doesn't need to be published like this. I agree, and it shouldn't have to come to this. But, since being terminated on 2008-07-17 and, after making mention of this multiple times during my seven (07) day stay, the auto voting continues without a blip. Since there appears to be no action being taken from the Sphinn Staff, we'll do it for them.

From my perspective, this person is "totally disrespecting" the Sphinn Community, the Sphinners themselves and the creators of the Pligg platform. This person has basically "muscled" their way through the community and has become the top Auto Voter on Sphinn. As of 2008-07-18 at 09:30 PDT, the person with the most Sphinns is bhartzer with 13,293 Sphinns to date.

Sphinner Stats for bhartzer

Let's take a look at the Sphinner Stats for bhartzer as of 2008-07-18 at 14:15 PDT. < Note, I just updated these Sphinner Stats for bhartzer. I've been erasing the identities of those in the Profile Recently Viewed By: section. Not this time I'm not! Thank you evilgreenmonkey for at least looking into this.

bhartzer Sphinner Stats

36 SphinnsThis person joined right around the time I did and they have 13,293 Sphinns to their credit. You know, I am literally addicted to this stuff and I don't think I could have Sphunn my way to that many Sphinns in 371 days. At that rate, I'd be averaging 36 Sphinns per day. While that is possible and likely in a high volume voting environment, it isn't the case in this particular instance, not based on the numbers I've shown here.

In fact, the bhartzer SphinnBot far exceeds the top "Real Sphinners" within the community. I mean, we are talking a 251% difference between the bhartzer and DoshDosh profiles (note DoshDosh is a Top Sphinnfluencer)! And, these statistics are available for all Sphinners to see. This is not something that is behind closed doors. If this isn't an obvious auto voting process, I will eat every byte of code on this page!

bhartzer (This account has been terminated.)

Update 2008-07-19 - It appears that the Sphinn Staff have taken my research seriously. Guess what?

bhartzer (This account has been terminated.)

Dude, that SUCKS! It happened to me too on 2008-07-16.

I CALL YOU OUT!

Admin Note: Hmmm, bhartzer, I am very familiar with that username from my tenure in this industry (1996-2008). I believe I "used" to have a balanced level of respect for you. At this point, you're on my Blacklist with no respect whatsoever, zero, nada, zilch! If Sphinn were my community and you muscled your way in like that, your account would have been terminated long ago and, I'd find a way to block access to "all Third Door Media properties" from your logged IPs and anyone else from your company, guilt by association.

HOOVERDUDE, YOU'RE A HOOVER! You're sucking Sphinn for your own gain and not really giving anything back to the community. Is that what Sphinn is all about? That doesn't change the fact that you are still a HOOVER for automating the process!

YOU DON'T DESERVE to be a member of that community because you've given very little in return. All you've done is disrupt the voting process and have skewed the numbers considerably. Oh, and there are a few others involved in the process too.

THAT IS TOTAL DISRESPECT and I will enjoy putting you and many of the other SphinnBots on the carpet here over the next week or so starting with the major abusers first.

Update: Someone pinged me through one of my anonymous contact methods. I've been asked if I would like to review a program that "may" be used for auto voting within this type of social platform. Of course I would! You asked me to let you know via these pages, I'M LETTING YOU KNOW!

If there is anyone else that wants and/or needs to "show me" something, drop me a contact request or ping me whichever way you know how, let's talk soon. NDA: Yes, any information shared with me that you tell me not to publish will not be published. My peers (Friends) will tell you that I am a man of my word. Honor amongst peers. We be down like four flat tires. I've got your back, you've got my back, friends.

Still No Sphinn Love for Dave Davies

2008-07-19 at 17:50 - Poor Dave Davies, the guy still can't get no Sphinn Love. Unfortunately based on how that What's New list and how the Network functions, this one may never see the light of day. This would be typical of any topics that may reveal challenges at Sphinn.

2008-07-18 at 15:50 PDT - Stay tuned, I'm preparing information on SphinnBot #2 at this moment.

merkal2008 is next. This is the turkey from Turkey running a SphinnBot who appears to still be active and also had a previous username of merkal2005 that was terminated. Was that the previous version? Wink

merkal2008 Sphinner Stats

SphinnBot Activity for merkal2008

0-22 SphinnsDue to my "active" involvement with the What's New list at specific time frames, I tripped up the merkal2008 SphinnBot in these particular instances. When viewing the merkal2008 Profile Sphinns Tab, you'll see these three topic references which I "Reported as Spam". The merkal2008 SphinnBot just happened to be Sphinning all topics on the What's New list at the same time and after I spent all that time zeroing out Sphinns and "Reporting as Spam" and "Desphinning" like a maniac, this stupid bot comes in and brings them all back to one. And then, another stupid bot comes in and tags another, making them two. I just couldn't keep up with them.

By the way, this particular Sphamm "I believe" came in from the Indiann Network which I think is quite obvious. I don't need to have backend access to make that assumption. I'd be looking real close at that itacumen reference in The Smoking Gunn document as the source behind this.
