pageoneresults (This account has been terminated.)2008-07-17 - It appears that my Sphinn Profile has been terminated as of 2008-07-16 sometime shortly before midnight.
Bummer, the one thing every Professional Internet Marketer hates to have happen, having your account terminated due to disrespecting rule abiding Sphinn Members, can you believe that? As if I wasn't sucked into that "defensive" posture by some of the Sphinn Moderators and a select few Sphinners? Let's rumble!
Here is my official termination notice from Rob Kerry, Sphinn Editor as of 2008-07-17 at 00:16 PDT...
"Edward, your account has been terminated for the continued disrespect shown towards rule-abiding Sphinn members and the Sphinn moderator team, as well as abuse of the Desphinn and spam reporting facilities. It was not your job or your right to go on a one-man lynching mission, and although your help in identifying some rule-breakers was appreciated, your tone and actions towards new members and moderators was inexcusable. Sphinn has always been updating it's systems to deal with spam to the limit of our platform and development time, and will continue to make further advancements in the future."

I have no qualms with my Termination, I'll accept it. But, before you write me off, let me share a few things with you, your team, and your members that I learned in just under seven (07) days of being "actively" involved with your little "node" in the "network".
What you are about to see posted over the next few days (2008-07-17 thru 2008-07-20) as I finish gathering my data should awaken yourself along with everyone following this Sphinn Story. Yes, it has literally turned into a full blown story. I have so many screenshots, text files, js files, etc. that I had to create a taxonomy for them on my local system just to get them in order. It took me a little over an hour to do that too. It was like developing a new website from scratch.
All the documentation, screenshots, backtracking, etc. required many manhours of passionate and relentless research. I took a few days off from projects to immerse myself in the Sphinn Social Community Network. And wait until you see the results of that research. I really do feel it will be a wake up call for someone. That whole Sphamm challenge that you've been sweeping under the carpet may be coming to a head if it hasn't already.
Terminate my account? How dare you! ![]()
2008-07-17 Update: Since my account has been terminated and all of my posts nuked, how does that look to the Sphinn Community? I mean, I must have spent over 50 hours providing quality feedback on some very good Topics that went hot. They went hot because I fed them for hours with Comments and people just kept Sphinning and Sphinning. The more comments I made, the more Sphinns that were generated, it was viral!
So now you have those who I Desphunn or Reported as Spam referencing my username in topics and there is nothing there from me that describes why I took the action I did and Desphunn and/or Reported as Spam. It does make me (pageoneresults) look somewhat the fool. Now you have a video sitting out there with some basic misinformation that has made the Hot Topics list and all the friends are now removing their meta description elements because they don't have any value for search engines, can you believe that? Does this topic with 25 Comments look a bit vacant to you? Would you be able to determine what transpired during that discussion and why that topic has so much activity? That's a minus point (-1) for the Sphinn Staff. Tit for tat.
Here is the snippet from that topic that led to the discussion above that is now lacking every single one of my replies where I explained in great detail why the below statement was incorrect.
"The description does not have any kind of weight with the search engines and their algorithms. It does help the users who are using the search engines to gauge whether they want to click on what they are seeing in the search results or not."
Tell me, does the above statement seem wrong to you? There was also some other minor misinformation in regards to the nomenclature being used. When you add that to the above statement which was supported by all the Friends throughout that discussion, what do you end up with?
I am fortunate in that there is one reply in there from g1smd who managed to cover me back in that discussion. If it weren't for his intervention, I may have crossed the line. Thank you g1smd!

This topic below does not qualify for 38 Sphinns, it is noise, there is no signal. In fact, I originally was going to Desphinn it and decided not to at which time I made a comment about my perception of the video and that is was incorrect information. The only reason it has that many Sphinns right now is because I started off with a few comments about the inaccuracy of the information in the video. It quickly sphiraled from there and turned into a pissing match from the "Friends Network" at which time it went Hot. The quality of the information in the video is so basic, that it would do more harm than good. Add to that this statement about meta description elements...
"The description does not have any kind of weight with the search engines and their algorithms. It does help the users who are using the search engines to gauge whether they want to click on what they are seeing in the search results or not."
...and you end up with a whole group of Clueless friends aimlessly wondering the Social Media Brothels of the Internet.
Take a look at the very first comment displayed right now after nuking all of my quality comments and replies. It makes you wonder, doesn't it? What exactly happened before that? Where is the first comment that started this all?
Oh, this one really puts a smile on my face. I was present when this topic hit the What's New list. I visited the resource, read every character, did some other quality checks and it was a great topic for discussion. So, I started that one off with a bang, you know how verbose I can be, and then Jill decides to negate what I originally said which was a very thought out thank you to the person that resigned from Sphinn that evening. Check this topic out now and tell me what you think. How does this make Jill look? It changes the entire meaning of the topic without my original response.
Aaron Wall at SEO Book has picked up on my Sphinn Expose. Aaron and I have a bit of history dealing with the challenges of Traffic-Power a few years ago.
