My Twitter Terms of Service

Twitter Article by Edward Lewis
Administrator for the SEO Consultants Directory
Good day 38.107.191.92, my name is Edward Lewis aka @pageoneresults on Twitter, I am very pleased to meet you, really I am. It is difficult for me to express, in 140 characters, how elated I am that you've decided to Follow Me on Twitter.
A Follow to me is a Twitter Timeline endorsement. When I Follow back, we create a mutual endorsement. If I don't Follow you back, that doesn't mean I don't endorse your timeline. If you don't get BLOCKED, then we're okay for now.
If I BLOCK you, then you'll know I didn't like what I saw. I like to keep the neighborhood clean. Think of it like my own little Twitter Neighborhood Watch Program. Thousands BLOCKED to date.
I do perform ongoing reviews and maintenance of my Followers and Following. I will BLOCK all unwanted Twits from my Timeline, you'll need to figure out other ways to view my Tweets, what I call Covert Following on Twitter.
Default Twitter Avatars - Expedited BLOCK or REMOVE

There are very few exceptions to this rule. Read our Twitter Signup Tutorial.
At the moment, I can only Follow so many people. If I am not present at my system monitoring various timelines, RSS, or whatever methods I may be using to track my Followers and of course my Following, I'm going to miss out on the moment. But, I'm not going to miss much since I monitor just about everything to do with my Twitter Followers and Following.
If I don't Follow you publicly, I may be subscribed to your RSS feed. Why? Because you may talk as much as I do and there may only be room for just a few of us in my timeline. You're welcome to send me @pageoneresults (mentions) whenever you wish and I will typically reply to those.
Whatever you do, DON'T DO any of the things immediately below or I WILL BLOCK YOU!

Twitter Do NOTs
- Do NOT Follow Me
Yes, that's right, Don't Follow Me! Unless of course you are ready to engage. If you Follow me, it is suggested that you Follow-Up with an @pageoneresults mention and let me know why you Followed me. I'm no longer allowing just anyone into my Twitterhood. You'll either get BLOCKED or REMOVED within the first 0-48 hours if you do not engage. You SHOULD probably know someone within my network too.
It is suggested that you use the @pageoneresults mention and let me know why you decided to Follow me. If you don't, there's a strong chance you'll get pruned (BLOCKED/REMOVED) from my Following. I prune regularly, keeps the digestive system in balance. Your lack of a mention may confirm my suspicions that you Blind Followed me. Don't Follow me just for the heck of it. I'll BLOCK or REMOVE you!

- Do NOT Blind Follow
I don't think I'm your typical Twitterer and you'll quickly find that out via my public timeline. Do review my profile, timeline and website and get to know me before you Follow and I get that email notifying me that "Your Name is now following you on Twitter!"
Back to Previous
- Do NOT Follow/Unfollow/Follow Follow/Unfollow/Follow
If you do that more than once trying to get my attention and coerce me to Follow you back, I'll probably BLOCK you. Send me an @pageoneresults mention and I'll get it via my feeds or my timeline if I'm available. Bottom line? @pageoneresults is the absolute best way to get my attention in a respectful social kind of way.

- Do NOT Auto DM
If you send me an automatic DM after I Follow you, I may or may not BLOCK you. It will depend on the content of that DM. If you send me a link to your website that I already viewed from your Twitter Profile, I'm probably going to BLOCK you.
I doubt that I'm going to get many auto DMs these days. I'm proactive in this area and BLOCK in advance, guilty until proven innocent. I can smell an auto DM a mile away just by looking at your Twitter Profile, they're virtually odiferous!
If you are trying to sell me your get rich overnight eBook and/or any other MLM, I will BLOCK you and may use you as an example in an article about Twitter. You're welcome to take that chance but I don't recommend you do that, and neither would my peers.

- Do NOT FriendFeed
If you aggressively fill my Twitter Timeline with FriendFeed entries, guess what? I'm going to BLOCK you. I'm referring to the apparent bug in FriendFeed where you end up filling timelines with back to back Tweets and no breaks inbetween. Either tame that beast, don't use it or, get BLOCKED. Many of my peers will tell you the same.
Addendum: There is a 95% likeliness that I'm going to Unfollow you if you're using FriendFeed - period. You can thank the many clueless FF users for my FIRM decision on this. DON'T fill Twitter Timelines with FF entries that take you to an FF page that is nothing but a link to the destination content. I've come to understand that Tweeting intermediary links like that is BAD practice.

Do NOT Address Me as Ed or Eddie
My name is Edward Lewis. It is not Ed Lewis, nor is it Eddie Lewis.
IT IS Edward Lewis
Vivian: You're late.
Edward Lewis: You're stunning.
Vivian: You're Forgiven
If you call me Ed, Eddie, or anything other than Edward and/or my Username, I will BLOCK you. You'll join a growing BLACKLIST of Edsayers.
Note: I may even include you on my upcoming Wheel of Tworture.

- Do NOT #FollowFriday Me
Don't include me in your #FollowFriday mentions if you are not Following me. I will BLOCK you immediately. And, if you RT someone else's #FollowFriday with a mention of me, I will BLOCK you. Catfish!
If you're looking for my #FollowFriday Tweets, I'd suggest you look at who I'm Following and take your pick. I consider them quality Twits or I wouldn't have Followed. Any single one of them COULD be the Star of your Twitter Timeline.
You could even peruse those who are Following me. I've looked at all their profiles too and have BLOCKED those (2,856 as of 2009-09-25) I don't want in my Twitterhood.

- Do NOT Use a Shortened URI for your Bio Link
I'll immediately BLOCK you from my Following if you're using a shortened URI for your Twitter Bio link. I've had more than a few not so pleasant experiences clicking on those and I'm not taking any more chances. Use a real website address (URI aka URL) or don't Follow me (UFM). I see no reason why you should have a shortened URI as your Bio Link, not one.

Do NOT Promote StomperNet
(or similar programs)
If you Tweet any promotions for StomperNet, I'm probably going to Unfollow you. I may even BLOCK you depending on my mood at the moment of the infraction. It's nothing personal, strictly business.
There are less than a few exceptions that are on the borderline of getting BLOCKED as of 2009-09-24.Back to Previous
Do NOT Promote Automation Software
2010-01-22 - This one I'm going to review on a case by case basis. Some folks seem to think it's okay to pimp crap automation software, I think otherwise. If I see it, there's a good chance I'm going to speak up and Unfollow you at the same time. I may even write a review of the software, if time permits, along with full credits to the Twit responsible for pimping it.

Do NOT Bottom Feed
If you Follow me, I'm going to review your Twitter Timeline. If I see Tweets about How to Get More Followers on Twitter or, How to Make Money with Twitter or, Someone has a Crazy Idea, etc., I'm going to BLOCK you. That one is a no brainer. Catfish!

Twitter Do's
Now that we've got the above out of the way, here are a few things that you're WELCOME TO DO...
- Do Mention @pageoneresults
I really enjoy a few Tweets with my Followers and Following. If I'm on me timeline and you mention me, there's a good chance we're going to share more than a few (up to 250) characters if I Follow you. If not, don't be shy. Go right ahead and send that @pageoneresults mention and if I feel a need to opine, I will most likely do so. If I don't, be 99% assured that I've read it and have you on my mind.

- Do Use DM
I have a high volume of Direct Messages. I prefer that extended conversations go to DM so that we don't use Twitter like IM. I see many well written articles on this particular aspect of Twitter and I agree, a stream of Tweets between two people is best left for DM.Back to Previous
- Do Challenge Me
I always enjoy being challenged on any of my findings that I may publish. Don't be afraid to ask a question using the @pageoneresults mention. I eat that stuff up. I will gladly opine and provide official resources if they are not already referenced in whatever it was that you may have read of mine.

- Do Use Best Judgment
If you are Tweeting publicly (NOT Protected), do use your better judgment in your choice of characters, you can say a lot in 140. Yes, you can delete something afterwards but, once it hits the public timelines, it is going to be scraped and repurposed at many other places.
Choose your words carefully, please. Before hitting that Send button, read your Tweet again, and then one more time. Check spelling, grammar, etc. You're leaving an indelible mark in Internet history.

- Do Tell
I'd really like to know why you've decided to Follow me on Twitter. If I don't Follow you back, go ahead and shoot me a Tweet with an @pageoneresults mention letting me know why you are Following. There's a good chance I may Follow you back, there will be many factors which determine that. I have my own Follow algo for Twitter. If you've made it this far reading my TOS, we're probably going to get along just fine.
